In its fifth year, this program will once again offer a scholarship for women to attend Director training programs, thanks to the support of Oasis Management Company, Inc. (hereinafter \u201cOasis\u201d). As the sponsor, Oasis collaborates with the Board Director Training Institute of Japan (BDTI), which organizes Director training programs, to select outstanding candidates with the potential to excel as board directors and fully cover their tuition fees.<\/p>\n

Since the introduction of the Corporate Governance Code in Japan, governance reforms have advanced, including improvements in board effectiveness and the strengthening of the roles of independent outside directors. At the same time, expanding gender diversity on boards and enhancing the pipeline of future board candidates remain important challenges.<\/p>\n

This scholarship program provides an opportunity for highly capable female leaders to acquire through BDTI\u2019s Director training programs the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed as board directors. It aims to support the expansion of the pipeline of female board candidates and contribute to closing the gender gap on boards in Japan.<\/p>\n

Through this scholarship, we hope that more women will participate in the training and take the first step toward becoming the next generation of female leaders.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\u3010Application\u3011<\/strong><\/p>

Individuals who demonstrate strong potential to succeed as board directors (note: those who have previously received a BDTI scholarship are not eligible to apply).<\/strong><\/p>

\u3010Application Period\u3011<\/strong><\/p>

Applications will be accepted from Wednesday, April 1, 2026, to Thursday, April 30, 2026. Recruitment will close once the maximum number of applicants is reached. Applications will be reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis, so please submit your CV as early as possible<\/p>

\u3010Programs Covered by the Initiative\u3011<\/strong><\/p>

\u300cGovernance School\u300d<\/strong><\/a>
This is an intensive one-day course designed for directors and executive officers to acquire fundamental governance knowledge. Lectures are delivered by leading practitioners and cover the theory and practice of corporate governance, the Companies Act, the Financial Instruments and Exchange Act, and case studies.<\/p>

\u300cAdvanced Director School\u300d<\/strong><\/a>
Building on the knowledge of the Companies Act, the Financial Instruments and Exchange Act, and corporate governance acquired in the \u201cGovernance School,\u201d this course enables participants to understand the roles and responsibilities of directors at a practical level and apply them in practice.<\/p>

\u300cRole Play Course\u300d<\/strong><\/a>
This training is a case-study\u2013based program designed by BDTI, in which participants engage in role-playing exercises based on real-life incidents. (Eligibility: Participants must have completed the \u201cGovernance School,\u201d \u201cDirector Boot Camp,\u201d or possess equivalent knowledge.)<\/p>

\u300cFinance Course\u300d<\/strong><\/a>
<\/strong>This is a six-session finance course focused on reading financial statements and conducting financial analysis.<\/p>

\u201cEnglish Director Boot Camp<\/strong>\u201d<\/strong><\/a>
Participants will learn key knowledge of law and corporate governance necessary to serve responsibly as directors of both listed and unlisted Japanese companies. The course includes interactive discussions and Q&A sessions, allowing participants to examine real-life boardroom situations and explore how to address them.<\/p>

Each course includes the e-learning program \u201cEssentials of Directorship.\u201d If you have already completed it and do not require access, please let us know. Please note that from June 2025 onward, the program is offered on a new platform.<\/p>

Required Documents:
1. Your most recent CV in English (any format; Japanese is not accepted)
2. A description of your experience and skills demonstrating your potential as a board director (in English, within 250 words)<\/p>

Applicants should send the required documents (1 and 2) as email attachments to info@bdti.or.jp<\/span><\/span><\/a>, clearly stating the course title and preferred participation date. Based on the submitted resume, the sponsor, Oasis, will review the application and determine whether the scholarship will be granted and whether the applicant may attend the course.<\/p>

\u3010Selection Process\u3011<\/strong><\/p>

The review and selection will be conducted by the sponsor. BDTI will notify applicants of the results by email. Those who are approved should then apply for the relevant course through the website.<\/p>

\u30fbUpon receipt of your resume, the secretariat will send a confirmation email. If you do not receive a confirmation within a few days, please contact the secretariat at info@bdti.or.jp<\/a><\/strong>
\u30fbEach applicant may receive the scholarship for only one course.
\u30fbThose who have previously received a BDTI scholarship are not eligible to apply.
\u30fbApplications must be submitted individually; applications from companies will not be accepted.
\u30fbIf your preferred course date is fully booked, an alternative date may be offered.
\u30fbAfter submitting your resume, the sponsor\u2019s review process may take approximately 1\u20132 weeks.
\u30fbBy applying for this scholarship, you are deemed to have given your consent under Article 4 (Provision to Third Parties) of BDTI\u2019s Privacy Policy . <\/strong><\/a>The personal information and resume you submit will be shared with the sponsor company, Oasis Management.
